WINGS OF THE BUTTERFLY
Flutter by, sweet butterfly
Wings of golden hue
In dreams of flight by darkened night
I wish that I were you
To scour the skies, with wings like eyes
And race against the wind
You glide and swoop, and cock a snoop
At our pointless daily grind
Your beauty vast, though life won't last
Your precious timespan short
To woo and mate, to contemplate
The journey you have sought
So calm and gentle, heaven sent you
Down to please us so
Though time is short, my sad retort
As I must watch you go
So rest a while, as you beguile
These eyes that love you so
With flapping wings, you show me things
No words, I need to know
Flutter by, sweet butterfly
You thrill this happy heart
I'll say goodbye, with cheerful eyes
And smile as you depart

What a lovely poem. And what a dainty colorful critter. Wonderful selective processing.
Very surreal. The 'flutterby' looks most realistic of all.
Transition from prose to poetry aptly done. Lovely photo as well. Have a great day, Paul.
Painted in time...
You are such a poet, Paul, in word and deed! What a charming post.
fluffy to the core.. nice poem.. now if only i could write a nice one for my wife.. hmm.. lol!
A cotton candy shot. Beautiful.
Very good procsessing
Oh, what soft blooms. An amazing plant and wonderful image.
Wow Floogie, you kept this one hidden, It's beautiful, and a beautiful poem too!
One word describes it all - LOVELY.
another likey
And with those lovely bog cotton plants (or what look like them), of which I have a few in a glass jar where I can see them readily! Lovely! Mr Floog, you get around the country...
Surreal image and such a lovely poem!
Stunning image. Lov ethe soft pinks in the processing.
The 'History' channel used to run an endless and drab series called 'Wing of the Luftwaffe', Paul. I prefer your version.
I like the subject matter and composition of this Paul, but of course, by now you know that I don't care for the processing! I know I'm probably in the minority here as this seems to be very popular.
Ingrid
FLOOG: A very good afternoon Ingrid, and thanks for your honest opinion which is, as always, much appreciated and valued. Not really a minority, there are many who do not like my processing style, but I believe expressionism and individualism are important in life, and the current path I'm following gives me pleasure
What a beautiful poem Paul, and a shot to match.
The thistle heads are like pink pom pom's...
I'm with Ingrid. Some times less is more with processing and the simple beauty of a butterfly and your poem are enough for me.
FLOOG: Hi Kathryn, and many thanks for a perfectly valid point of view
Lovely photo Paul and a very good poem to go with it. Isn't it such a shame these beautiful creatures only last for a short while.
In this case, Paul, I think the processing enhances as it changes.
Nice upbeat ditty as well.
A pleasure it most surely is
to read your flowing rhyme You put a lot of effort in a lot of precious time. Just one thing I have to say concerns the pic above The processing is just too much your shots, without, are good enough.
FLOOG: Ha ha... thank you Mr P. I don't think I have ever received such an eloquently worded observation before
Perfectly valid Bill, and fair to say that you are not alone in your opinion. For the record, some commentators have actually stopped visiting for the same reason, and many have said that my latest style is not to their taste. There are many more of these lined up for the following month when we will be in Canada and America to visit our family, so those who do not like this style should probably look away or view through slightly opened fingers ha ha
Really neat what you did here with this picture gives both a glowing and fuzzy feel to it.
Loveley words for a lovely butterfly
Ah, the controversy about processing vs straight-on presentation! Without seeing the picture both ways, it's impossible to have an opinion. The butterfly is stunning here, and I like the way it is accentuated by your treatment of its surroundings. Perhaps it looks equally beautiful in the original format - but we'll never know unless you reveal it!
FLOOG: Hi Patrushka, that's so true. I sent an attachment to Tim H the other evening as he has raised that point exactly, concerning my bridge photograph. I'm sure he won't mind me mentioning the fact that he agreed with me that the processed image was better.
It's all down to personal opinion, which is exactly as life should be. It'd be a darn boring world if we all liked the same thing. For my part, I choose to enhance specific photographs, whilst others remain original. It has to work for me to post, and the combination of words and photograph need to feel right for me, or I won't post them. From my point of view, my blog is very personal, individual and is something I do for pleasure, nothing more. I'd like to think that I 'entertain'. When you visit my blog you get a daily fictional/fantasy piece of work in words and photograph, I am sort of a throwaway gossip magazine in a shop rack full of 'Vogue' magazines (my Shutterchance friends
I love this work of art!! Part of the fun for me as well is playing around with the post processing tools. I don't know what I'm doing half the time but that is part of the fun.
Nicely twiddled Paul.
Looks like this butterfly fluttered into a PS session
FLOOG: Ha ha.. not far from the truth
wow. i think you've outdone yourself on this one Paul. such beautiful colors.
what's the countdown on the Vancouver trip?
FLOOG: Thanks so much Claire. Well, we hit the skies this coming Sunday, and touch down in beautiful Vancouver in the evening, we're staying at the Inn at false creek for several days before our faimily come over and take us back to Sidney by the sea, my spiritual home.
Then it's Las Vegas and my fave place on earth, the grand Canyon, some time in Mt Vernon USA and plenty of other fun things along the way. Can you tell that I'm excited ha ha You're right about that time of year. Luckily we visit our clan for a month every year, so I've been privileged to enjoy parts of Canada at most times in the year. To say that I love the bones of the place, and it's people, would be something of an understatement. When we get to Sidney, Patricia and I will make a lovely journey to Pat bay, where we will stand on the beach and feel as always, that we are 'home'
Amazing shot. Love the all the color of the butterfly against the fluffy white flowers. Oh and that was a really nice poem too!
FLOOG: Thanks so much Andy, you are very kind
That butterfly here looks like its part of the plant. great poem Paul. I'm gonna recite it to someone
FLOOG: Ha ha.... let me know the result of the recital
Nice grab. Having the butterfly just sitting there on this one. Nice job.
Another beauty, although I would have masked out the flowers.
